The stakeholder committee established by the government to review DStv subscription prices has announced that the 33 and 50 per cent value increases introduced on October 1, 2025, will remain in force.
In a statement issued by the National Communications Authority (NCA), the committee said the decision follows positive consumer response, noting that the revised pricing structure has been widely accepted by subscribers.
According to the statement, the committee—chaired by the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations—continued its engagements after the implementation of the enhanced value packages and observed a significant rise in subscriptions across the platform.
“The committee noted that the enhanced value packages were duly implemented as announced and remain in force. Ghanaians responded positively to the value increase, resulting in a significant increase in subscriptions,” the statement said.
The committee also disclosed that efforts are underway to address illegal activities within the broadcast service delivery sector. Working with agencies such as the Cybersecurity Authority, the committee aims to curb internet streaming piracy, which it says leads to revenue losses for government and the creative industry, while exposing consumers to cybersecurity threats including malware and phishing.
Under the revised subscription structure, Padi subscribers paying GH¢59 are automatically upgraded to the Access bouquet valued at GH¢99. Access subscribers will move to the Family package worth GH¢190, while Family subscribers will be upgraded to Compact valued at GH¢380, which includes access to live football matches.
Compact subscribers will be moved to Compact Plus worth GH¢570, and Compact Plus customers will be upgraded to the Premium bouquet, priced at GH¢865. Premium subscribers will continue to enjoy DStv’s flagship content and will qualify for promotions, including opportunities to win trips to watch selected English Premier League matches.
Additionally, MultiChoice Africa has announced a subsidy of GH¢555 on Zapper decoders and dish kits, reducing their cost by 50 per cent for new customers.
