Dutch second-tier outfit Cambuur FC have sealed the signing of Dutch international of Ghanaian descent, Jamal Amofa on a two-year deal. Amofa, 26, returns to Holland after a short spell with Bulgarian out Botev Plovdiv.

The Dutch-born is a product of Heerenveen’s academy and ADO Den Haag in the Netherlands. The high rated centre back featured in 11 games for Botev Plovdiv during his short spell in the Bulgarian efbet Liga in the just concluded 2024-2025 season.

He featured for Dutch Eredivisie side, Go Ahead Eagles from July 2022- July 2025 from ADO Den Haag on a free transfer.

In a club statement on his signing, they took to the internet in a statement expressing their joy in snapping up the Dutch-born Ghanaian defender:

“SC Cambuur strengthens itself with Jamal Amofa. And that's four! SC Cambuur strikes again on the transfer market and has managed to tie Jamal Amofa to them for two seasons. The 26-year-old central defender comes over on a free transfer from the Bulgarian Botev Plovdiv,” the Dutch club said in its statement.

Speaking in his maiden interview after the deal was signed, Jamal Amofa said he cannot wait to get started at his new club.

“I’m eager to get started,” the defender said.

Amofa’s addition will be to aid in bolstering the team's squad in the upcoming season and to contribute to their quest for promotion to the Dutch Eredivisie.
