DVLA confirms closure of Kuntunse vehicle testing centre

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has confirmed the closure of the Private Vehicle Testing Station (PVTS) at Kuntunse in the Greater Accra Region.
The Authority said the shutdown took effect on 1 December 2025 and advised clients to seek services at other PVTS centres across Accra.
The DVLA rejected media reports suggesting the facility was closed following an eviction by an expatriate landlord over alleged non-payment of rent and utility bills for 17 years.
According to the Authority, the facility’s privately owned operator voluntarily decided to cease operations. The DVLA urged the public to disregard what it described as misleading reports about the circumstances surrounding the closure.
Some earlier media publications had claimed the centre was forced to shut down after the DVLA supposedly failed to settle long-standing rent and utility arrears.
