The Electoral Commission (EC) says it has started printing ballot for the presidential election and is expecting to issue the notice of poll before the close of business Tuesday.

When Joy News visited the Commission’s headquarters in Accra, the printed notice of poll were being loaded onto trucks for further distribution across the country.

"The notice of poll for the presidential election is ready and we have started dispatching them to the regions. The parliamentary has been ready for a long time and it has even been posted around the constituencies," the Deputy Communication Director of the Commission, Yussif Ayuba told Joy News.

A Constitutional Instrument (C.I. 94) governing the conduct of the 2016 elections states that the notice of poll must be issued not less than 30 days before the election.

The notice of poll is a poster that has the pictures of the various candidates showing their positions, their party symbol as well as a place for thumb printing.

In essence, it is a dummy of the ballot paper which is displayed for the purposes of public education.

Sometime last week, the EC gave the parliamentary election notice of poll but delayed with that for the presidential election because of some legal issues to settle with the presidential candidates.

The Commission balloted for presidential candidates last week Thursday, after the Supreme Court ruling ordered it to allow disqualified candidates to correct errors and to extend the period for the receipt of nomination to the close of day Tuesday, November 8.

The extension was to enable disqualified presidential hopefuls to correct errors on their nomination forms.

Joy News checks revealed that the Electoral Commission is printing the presidential ballots for election 2016 with 21 days to go for the upcoming polls.
