The main opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) has said the dismissal of the Electoral Commission Boss and other commissioners is an attempt by the NPP government to rig the 2020 elections.

The National Organizer of the NDC, Kofi Adams told a Press Conference in Accra that Ghanaians are fed up with the incompetencies of the current NPP regime and want to see its back in 2020, which according to them has triggered the conspiracy to remove the EC Boss to enable them perpetrate their rigging machinations.

“Ghanaians everywhere you pass are saying this government we will see its back in 2020. the attempt and the fear for which reason they’ve set out to remove an arbiter of our election and the two deputies so as to allow them to continue their rigging machinery, Ghanaians will not allow them to happen.”

President Nana Akufo-Addo on Thursday sacked the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Charlotte Osei and her two deputies – Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwah – from office.

The dismissal comes after some aggrieved employees of the Electoral Commission (EC) last year petitioned the president to dismiss the Chairperson of the Commission, Charlotte Osei.

President Akufo-Addo’s action comes on the heels of the receipt of a report from the committee set up by the Chief Justice, Justice Sophia Akuffo, pursuant to Article 146(4) of the Constitution, to investigate separate complaints brought against her and her two deputies.
