Ecobank Ghana Discontinues Six Services, Including Passport and US Visa Fee Collections

Ecobank Ghana has announced plans to discontinue six services previously offered through its branches, citing an ongoing effort to streamline its operations and improve service delivery.
The affected services include passport application form sales, DVLA cash collections and US visa fee payments, meaning customers who relied on Ecobank for these transactions will have to explore alternative channels.
The bank has also discontinued offshore cheque clearing, foreign draft issuance and safe custody services.
In a notice to customers, Ecobank said it would assist affected clients in finding alternative solutions where available and encouraged them to contact its branches or customer service channels for further guidance.
The changes are expected to affect customers who used Ecobank branches for government-related payments, travel documentation and other specialised banking services.
The bank did not specify an exact date for the complete withdrawal of the affected services but advised customers seeking clarification to call 080003225 or visit their nearest Ecobank branch.
The development comes amid a broader transformation in Ghana’s banking industry, with financial institutions increasingly shifting routine transactions to digital platforms while focusing physical branches on core banking and advisory services.
