English-born Ghanaian striker Eddie Nketiah lifted his first trophy with Crystal Palace over the weekend as the South London side pulled off a stunning 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
Nketiah, who came off the bench during the match, played a vital role in helping the Eagles secure their first-ever major silverware, capping off a memorable night for the club and its fans. The win also secures Europa League qualification for Palace in the 2025/26 season.
The former Arsenal forward, who previously won the FA Cup with the Gunners, expressed his joy on social media after the final:
“My God is great! FA Cup is coming to South London!” “FA Cup champions! What a night, all glory to God,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Born in Lewisham, Southeast London, to Ghanaian parents, Nketiah grew up watching Crystal Palace before joining Arsenal’s youth ranks.
After years of limited first-team opportunities at the North London club, he made a permanent switch to Palace last summer — a move that has already paid dividends with increased game time and silverware.
At 24 years old, Nketiah is now a key figure at Palace and remains eligible to represent Ghana at the international level, despite previously playing for England’s youth teams.
