Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu has shared his admiration for the city and its dedicated supporters, attributing his happiness at the club to the fans' unwavering loyalty.
The French-born Ghanaian, who joined Auxerre from Belgian side KAA Gent, has quickly felt at home, largely due to the passion of the club’s supporters.
Speaking to Flashscore following Auxerre’s recent 3-0 loss to AS Monaco, Owusu highlighted the importance of the fans' backing.
"The fans are really behind us. You can feel the love, and they are very passionate as well," he said.
"Even after we lost 3-0 to Monaco, they were still supporting us and singing. We don't take it for granted and want to give them everything. I am very happy to play here."
Auxerre, who secured promotion to Ligue 1 after winning the Ligue 2 title last season, have faced a difficult start to their top-flight campaign.
They currently sit 15th in the league, having suffered three consecutive defeats following an opening-day victory.
Despite these setbacks, Owusu remains optimistic, drawing strength from the continued support of the fans as the team strives to retain its Ligue 1 status.
