Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu has called on his teammates to remain united and focus on the finer aspects of their game as they fight to retain their place in Ligue 1.

His comments follow a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to AS Monaco, which has added to the club's difficult start to the season.

Auxerre, after spending just one season in Ligue 2, earned a quick return to the top flight for the 2024-25 campaign.

However, early setbacks have placed their Ligue 1 status in jeopardy, with the team struggling to find form. Owusu, however, remains optimistic, believing that the key to their survival lies in unity and attention to detail.

"We need to stay together. Even though we have lost some games, we have shown the quality to play in Ligue 1, so we need to build on that," Owusu stated.

"We also need to pay attention to the small details. The coach gives us confidence, and we have a strong team, so we just have to keep going."

The defeat to Monaco marked Auxerre's third consecutive loss, following an opening-day victory.

This poor run of results has left the club in 15th place in the standings, raising early concerns about their ability to navigate the challenges of the season ahead.
