The Board of the Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL), have asked embattled Managing Director, Bennet Aboagye, and his personal assistant, Yiadom Kesse, to proceed on leave with immediate effect over alleged financial malpractices.

This comes after the staff union of MMTL on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 petitioned the Transport Minister, Mr Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, to remove Mr Aboagye from office so that full-scale investigations could be conducted into the allegation.

Mr Aboagye has been accused of breaching procurement laws in the acquisition of some 300 new buses for the company, an allegation he has denied.

The embattled manager has also been accused of trying to bribe a whistleblower known as Lawal with GHS40,000 to shut him up.

Although Mr Aboagye has confirmed paying the money, he said he did so to trap his accuser to retrieve a certain secret audio recording which he [Lawal] was using to blackmail him as advised by the Police CID.
