Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has praised Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey as one of the top players in the English Premier League following Arsenal's 2-0 win over Villa on Saturday.

Partey played a crucial role in the match, scoring the second goal at Villa Park that sealed Arsenal's victory. Despite Martinez's efforts, he was unable to stop Partey's powerful shot, which slipped through his fingers.

In a post-match interview, Martinez admitted, "I tried my best to save it. I didn't know it was a shot from Partey until I raised my head after the ball went in.

He's one of the best midfielders in the league."

Leandro Trossard also played a key role in the win, coming off the bench to score with his first touch and put Arsenal ahead.

Partey’s goal ten minutes later solidified the Gunners' lead, especially after Villa had won both fixtures against Arsenal last season.

This goal marks Partey’s first Premier League strike since March 2023.

Following an injury-plagued season, the former Atletico Madrid star is determined to make a significant impact this campaign.

Despite ongoing transfer speculation, Partey continues to demonstrate his value to Arsenal with performances that underscore his importance to the squad.
