Former Ghanaian international Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has expressed concern over the dedication and passion of the current Black Stars squad, following their disappointing 2-0 defeat to Sudan in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

In the match played in Benghazi, Ghana’s woes deepened as Sudan’s Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud scored in the 62nd minute, followed by a quick second goal from Mohammed Abdelrahman just three minutes later.

This loss leaves Ghana in a difficult position, sitting third in Group F with just two points from four matches, making qualification for the next AFCON highly unlikely.

Reacting to the team’s performance, Agyemang Badu, who earned 78 caps for the national team, questioned the players' commitment when representing the country.

"They do very well at their clubs, but the moment they get to Ghana, it turns into something else. You don’t have a team, you don’t have character, you don’t have passion, you don’t have anything," Badu remarked in an interview with Onua TV.

The former Udinese midfielder, who was part of Ghana’s victorious 2009 U-20 World Cup squad, highlighted the need for the Black Stars to display the same level of character and passion shown at their respective clubs when playing for the national team.

Ghana will need to regroup for their final two AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger, where they must secure wins and hope for favorable results from other group matches to keep their slim qualification hopes alive.
