Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has raised concerns over Otto Addo's ability to manage the Black Stars following their disappointing 2-0 loss to Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
This defeat has left Ghana in a precarious position, currently sitting third in Group F with only two points, severely jeopardizing their chances of qualifying for the tournament.
In an interview with Accra-based Onua FM, Agyemang-Badu expressed regret for his previous support of Addo’s reappointment.
“I apologize because I advocated for the second coming of coach Otto Addo. If you go into my interviews, I gave him massive support, but I’m sorry. It seems the task is beyond him,” he stated.
Addo, who was rehired in March on a 34-month contract with an option for an additional 24 months, took over the reins from Chris Hughton.
As the Black Stars gear up for their crucial final qualifying matches against Niger and Angola next month, they will need not only to secure victories but also rely on favorable outcomes in other games.
Currently, Sudan occupies second place with seven points, and Ghana hopes they will lose their remaining matches against Angola and Niger to keep their qualification hopes alive.
