Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel "Ema" Boateng has secured a contract extension with Major League Soccer side New England Revolution, as the club exercised their one-year option following his solid performances during the 2024 season.
The 30-year-old midfielder, a seasoned MLS player, rejoined New England at the start of the year and made 23 appearances, contributing two goals and two assists.
Despite the team's failure to reach the playoffs, Boateng's displays proved enough for the Revolution to extend his stay.
Boateng's journey in football began at Ghana's Right to Dream Academy before moving to the United States in 2012 to join Santa Barbara.
After a stint in Sweden, he entered the MLS in 2019 with Los Angeles Galaxy.
He later enjoyed success with Columbus Crew, winning the MLS Cup in 2020, before signing with New England in 2021.
In between, he also spent a season with D.C. United, further establishing himself as a reliable figure in the league.
