The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has issued a firm warning to heads of agencies and senior managers within the energy sector, stressing that failure to deliver on assigned mandates will lead to their removal from office.
Speaking at a performance review retreat organised by the Ministry, Dr. Jinapor said President John Dramani Mahama expects public sector leaders to justify their positions through measurable results and effective service delivery.
He made it clear that underperformance would not be excused, stating that agency heads and senior officials who fail to meet agreed targets or deliver on key projects would be replaced.
According to the Minister, holding public office is a privilege that comes with responsibility, discipline and accountability, not an entitlement. He urged participants to treat the retreat as an opportunity to recommit themselves to excellence and performance-driven leadership.
“This is not a threat, but a call to seriousness, discipline and results-oriented leadership,” he noted.
Dr. Jinapor also challenged energy sector agencies to prioritise implementation over excessive planning as they prepare for 2026. He encouraged leaders to adopt practical, measurable strategies aligned with national development goals and Ghana’s green transition agenda.
“We must move from plans to execution, from excuses to solutions, and from fragmented efforts to unified action,” he said.
The performance review retreat aims to evaluate ongoing programmes, identify operational gaps and improve coordination across the energy sector to enhance efficiency, sustainability and overall economic impact.
