Eric Alagidede, the former General Manager of Nsoatreman Football Club, has refuted claims that his resignation was politically driven.
His departure, confirmed yesterday, has sparked speculation, with some reports suggesting a connection to the club’s bankroller, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, losing his parliamentary seat in the 2024 General Elections.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Alagidede clarified that his decision was entirely personal and unrelated to political developments.
He emphasized his commitment to his principles, explaining, "I did not resign based on political reasons. I’m a principled person and I always uphold my principles. I took a personal decision to leave this club some few months back."
Alagidede revealed that he had initially intended to step down earlier but was convinced to extend his stay. He now feels the time is right to move on, allowing others to build on his work.
"I think the applause is still loud, and it is my personal decision to leave. It is time for someone to continue the good work I did," he stated.
His resignation has drawn considerable attention within the football community, fueling speculation about potential external influences.
However, Alagidede remains firm in his assertion that his departure was purely a personal decision aimed at creating space for new leadership to advance the club’s progress.
