Ghanaian winger Ernest Nuamah reportedly experienced an emotional ordeal after Olympique Lyon attempted to force a transfer to Fulham during the summer transfer window.

According to reports from the French outlet L'Equipe, the 20-year-old was deeply distressed over the club's efforts to sell him, despite his desire to remain at Lyon.

On the final day of the transfer window, Nuamah was heavily linked with moves to Fulham and Everton, with Fulham reportedly agreeing on a €19 million fee with Lyon.

However, the deal ultimately collapsed after Nuamah adamantly refused to leave Lyon.

The situation escalated when representatives from Fulham arrived in France to finalize the transfer, leading to Nuamah reportedly breaking down in tears.

In a dramatic twist, Nuamah allegedly disappeared during his medical examination, which effectively put an end to the proposed deal.

Lyon's owner, John Textor, later reached out to Nuamah with a personal apology for the club's attempt to push him out.

Nuamah initially joined Lyon on a permanent transfer in July after impressing during a loan spell with the club.

He played a crucial role in their campaign last season, making 33 appearances, scoring three goals, and providing two assists.

His performances helped Lyon recover from a precarious position in the relegation zone to finish sixth and qualify for the Europa League.

Despite his contributions, Nuamah was excluded from Ghana's squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger, adding another layer of complexity to his recent experiences.
