Austrian defender Kevin Danso, of Ghanaian descent, has showed concern for French striker Kylian Mbappe, who sustained a broken nose in a collision with Danso's shoulder during their Euro 2024 qualifier on Monday.

While France secured a 1-0 victory, Mbappe's injury became the focal point of the match.

Danso, addressing the incident on the social media platform X, wished Mbappe a speedy recovery.

"I wish him a good recovery and I hope he can quickly get back on the pitch," Danso wrote. He also extended his apologies to French supporters, clarifying that his back was turned when Mbappe's face struck his shoulder during the duel.

Despite the injury, Mbappe maintained a positive outlook, even engaging his social media followers to suggest mask designs so he could play in France's next match against the Netherlands on Friday.

This request led to a flood of memes and creative suggestions online.

Mbappe briefly left the field to treat his bloodied nose but returned moments later, sitting down on the pitch.

This action drew boos from the Austrian fans and earned him a yellow card for unsportsmanlike conduct.

According to the French Football Federation, Mbappe returned to the team camp after receiving hospital treatment and does not require immediate surgery.

A protective mask is being prepared for him, though there are reports he may miss the upcoming clash against the Netherlands.
