A 27-year-old ex-convict , Daniel Doodu has been shot dead after engaging a police patrol team in a shootout at Ashaiman.
The patrol moved to the crime scene after a tip-off from some residents around Christian village close to Tema International School at 4:00am.
The tip-off indicated that some suspected armed robbers had unlawfully entered a home belonging to a resident who is currently out of the country.
Tema Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Juliana Obeng told Adom News’ Louisa Ayensu Peters that. the deceased opened fire at the patrol team when the policemen got to the house.
She revealed that, a search on him revealed that he had live cartridges.
ASP Juliana Obeng added that the suspect died instantly after the police also opened fire on him.
His body has since been deposited at the Police hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
