Former Hearts of oak captain,Mahatma Otoo has payed tribute to former team-mate Uriah Asante , who was laid to rest at the Gbawe Cemetery on saturday.

The Sogndal FC Striker took to his Facebook page to express  pain and regret at the loss of his former partner in attack for Accra Hearts Of Oak.

whose death came as a shock to many football fans and Ghanains.

"Your gone but will never be forgotten. May Your Soul Rest In Perfect Peace Uriah Asante," he said

"For those of us who were not able to attend the funeral coz of work we say a big thanks  for the  updates on Facebook"

The Songdal striker  partnered Uriah in attack  for hearts of oak under Serbian Nibojsa Vucicevic and the two were instrumental to the Phobians course when coach CK Akunnor took charge of the 'Continental club masters'.

The former Pure Joy FC star joined Hearts Of Oak in the 2010/11 season under coach Paa Kwesi Fabin when he made a lot of impact in  the GHALCA top 4 competition which the Accra based club won for the 3rd time.

Asante was a Sociology and History graduate from the University of Ghana.

He left Hearts of Oak as a free agent in 2012 and moved abroad to Tunisian Champions Etoile Du Sahel and  subsequently moved  to Romanian side, Astra Giurgiu on loan for a season before signing for EGS Gafsa.

He played his last club football for Al-Orobah in Bahrain.

Uriah, 24, died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra following a cardiac arrest on Monday, June 13.
