A second son of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Mr Edward Agyekum Kufuor, has declared his intent to contest in the upcoming by election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon election.

The businessman, who is also an actor, is among some of the other aspirants to be vetted by the party ahead of the elections.

Some seven persons including a Deputy National Communications Director of the NPP, Mame Yaa Aboagye reportedly picked forms to contest the race, but only six are said to have filed their nomination forms.

Mr Kufuor told journalists on Sunday, 23 December 2018 while filing his nomination that: “I have realised that the best way to bring about change is by stepping up, because if you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem.”

He added: “In fact, look at our track record, consider what NPP has done for this constituency and what the late Agyarko also achieved. Looking at all this work done, why won’t it be possible for the NPP to retain the seat.

Meanwhile, the opposition NDC has said three persons have successfully filed their nomination by the close of the deadline on Saturday, 22 December 2018.

The three are Mr. Ekwow Acquah, Mr. Delali Kwasi Brempong and Madam Donna Selassie Agbo.
