Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was left out of this week’s Champions League game because he flew out to Milan despite being told not to by his manager Thomas Tuchel.

The Gabon international had been set to feature against Sporting Clube on Wednesday night, but was surprisingly removed from the matchday squad an hour before kick-off.

Adrian Ramos was instead selected to start at the Signal Iduna Park and whilst he scored early on for Tuchel’s side, Aubameyang’s absence surprised many.

Tuchel revealed that Aubameyang had been suspended and it is now reported by Eurosport that the reason behind the 27-year-old’s absence was he defied his manager’s orders this week.

Aubameyang had reportedly requested to fly out to Milan for a birthday at the start of the week, but was told by Tuchel that it was not allowed as the German giants had a game on Wednesday in Germany.

However, Aubameyang was spotted in an Instagram picture seemingly taken in Milan where he was celebrating the occasion with friends.

That sort of behaviour means Aubameyang has broken rules set by the club and manager, which forced Tuchel to leave him out of the game on Wednesday.

Aubameyang was spotted in the crowd on Wednesday night watching Dortmund’s win over Sporting.
