The family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has officially announced that her final funeral rites will take place on Friday, 28 November 2025, at Independence Square in Accra.

Delivering the announcement on behalf of the family, Oheneba Akwasi Abayie, Otumfuo Akomforehene, stated that the ceremony will begin early in the morning.
According to the family’s statement shared on Facebook, “The funeral activities will start at 6 am with the arrival of the cortege at Independence Square, Accra.”

They expressed deep gratitude to Ghanaians, acknowledging the immense outpouring of sympathy and support since her passing.

Mourners attending the ceremony have been instructed to strictly observe the prescribed dress code. The family noted that the required attire is black and that no official funeral cloth has been produced for the occasion.

The event is open to the general public, with security and protocol officers expected to provide directions, maintain order, and ensure a smooth process throughout the ceremony.

The family emphasized that this gathering at Independence Square represents the complete and final funeral rites for the former First Lady—no additional ceremonies will be held after the burial.

They further appealed for punctuality and cooperation: “We urge mourners to come in early and adhere strictly to the directives of the security and protocol team so we can have an orderly process at the burial ceremony,” the statement added.
