A 45-year-old farmer, Samuel Abanga, has been shot and killed by suspected armed robbers at Pamuruso, a farming community in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

According to eyewitness accounts, Mr. Abanga was attacked while returning from his farm on Thursday evening.

His wife, Hawa Mohammed, said she had earlier heard gunshots echoing through the area, only to later be told that her husband had been fatally struck.

The farmer’s lifeless body was discovered by residents along the narrow footpath that connects the community to nearby farmlands.

The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear, but locals strongly suspect it was carried out by armed robbers who have recently plagued the area.

The incident has sent shockwaves through Pamuruso, where residents say robbery cases have become increasingly frequent.

Many lamented that their once-peaceful farming community now lives under constant fear.

Community members are urgently appealing to the Ghana Police Service to tighten security in the district by mounting checkpoints and intensifying patrols to deter criminal activity and protect lives and property.
