Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has highlighted the strong on-field connection he shares with Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy.

The 20-year-old played a key role in Leicester’s 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium on Monday night, delivering the assist for Vardy’s first goal of the season.

Issahaku and Vardy have developed a remarkable understanding, which was instrumental in Leicester’s promotion to the English Premier League last season.

As the new campaign unfolds, the pair are expected to be central to Leicester’s ambitions.

“Jamie Vardy is always in the right place, and I just know where to find him,” Issahaku said following the match.

“Whenever I have the ball, I’m thinking about how to set him up to score. Thankfully, it worked out again today, and I’m really happy about it.”

The match against Tottenham saw Leicester fall behind early in the first half due to a strike from Pedro Porro. However, the team rallied in the second half, a response Issahaku attributes to their coach's guidance.

“The turnaround was all about the coach’s instructions,” Issahaku explained. “During halftime, he spoke to us about simplifying our approach and playing smarter as a team.

We executed his plan, and that’s why we were able to get back into the game.”

Reflecting on the match, Issahaku expressed confidence in the team’s growth. “The way we played will boost our confidence,” he noted.

“We know there’s more we can give. This game has provided us with new tactics to learn from, and I believe we’re going to improve and show even more in the coming matches.”
