Ghana Premier League side FC Samartex 1996 have announced the temporary suspension of assistant coach Eric Bekoe following an internal decision by the club’s management.
In an official statement, the club said Mr Bekoe had been suspended from his roles as assistant coach and youth team coach due to alleged insubordination and a breach of the ethical standards governing members of the club’s technical team.
The statement added that the former Ghana international has been referred to the club’s disciplinary committee, where he is expected to face a formal hearing into the matter.
“Management has taken the decision to temporarily suspend Eric Bekoe,” the statement read, noting that the process would follow internal disciplinary procedures.
FC Samartex assured supporters and the general public that further updates would be provided once the disciplinary process has been concluded.
The club did not disclose details surrounding the incident, but stressed its commitment to upholding discipline, professionalism and ethical conduct within its technical set-up.
Eric Bekoe, a former Ghana Premier League top scorer, has been part of Samartex’s technical team, working closely with the club’s youth structure as well as the senior side.
For now, the club says it will await the outcome of the disciplinary hearing before taking any further action.
