Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, was welcomed by a mammoth of crowd to Ejura on Wednesday as he toured the Ejura-Sekyedumase Constituency on Wednesday.
Even though in the Ashanti Region, Ejura-Sekyedumase Constitunecy is one constituency the NDC has dominated over the NPP, with the NPP the parliamentary seat there only twice in the 4th Republic, with the NDC winning the rest.
The NPP, has however expressed its determination to win both the presidential votes and also snatch the parliamentary seat from the NDC, and from the mammoth crowd that greeted Dr. Bawumia, its clear the NDC are in for a battle of their lives to maintain the seat.
The NDC traditionally receive strong support from the large Zongo and Muslim community in Ejura, but this time, it was the Zongo community that turned up in their numbers to welcome Dr. Bawumia into the town, and also at his community commect rally.
Before the community connect, Dr. Bawumia received a rousing welcome as his bus arrived into the town, as he made his way to the venue he met stakeholders of the constituency, including traditional rulers, Imams and tribal Chiefs from the Zongo, as well as the Clergy.
At the community connect, the Clergy delivered a powerful prayer for the Vice President, before the big Zongo delegation commended Dr. Bawumia for his immense support to both the Zongo and Ejurama.
The biggest boost for Dr. Bawumi and the NPP Parliamentary Candidate was when the Ejura Traditional Council, led by Barima Osei Hwediem II, declared their strong support for Bawumia for the numerous development projects that have come to the town through his interventions.
With Ejuramam assuring Dr. Bawumia and the Parliamentary Candidate of their unflinching support, they headed to the community connect in high spirits, especially after Bawumia has a engaging meet and greet on the street.
At the community connect, they were met with a mammoth crowd of enthusiastic young men and women, including many, said to be converts from the NDC.
The huge crowd was so diverse that, some speakers had to address them in various languages including Dagbani, Dagarti, Mamprusi, Fulani etc.
From all indications, it was quiet obvious that the choice of Dr. Bawumia, as the NPP's first Muslim and Northern Presidential Candidate, has wooed a significant number of people from the Zongo community in Ejura and its surroundings .
As Dr. Bawumia's bus moved out of Ejura to the next after his presentations, many of the supporters, clad in their NPP apparels, could be heard singing and chanting that the NDC had gripped in fear after seeing the huge crowd.
