Turkish club Fenerbache have sent a message of condolence to a former player of the club Stephen Appiah following the death of his mum.
The mother of the former captain of the Black Stars, Madam Comfort Afua Aidoo passed on at the age of 73 years on Saturday.
Fenerbache posted on their official Twitter handle, "Our deepest condolences with Stephen Appiah, his respected mother passed away today which also is Stephen’s birthday. Stay strong Appiah we are with you."
The passing away of his mum led to Appiah cancelling his birthday football gala that was scheduled to take place at Wembley Park at Kotobabi, Accra.
Stephen Appiah, who led the country to it first World Cup appearance in 2006 told Daily Graphic last week Monday the event was to bring together his friends, playmates, and other Ghanaian players to celebrate his birthday on the pitch and have some fun afterwards.
The 38-year-old played for the Turkish giants between 2005 to 2008, playing 64 games and registering 11 goals.
