The Black Stars of Ghana will officially open camp today, September 1, in Accra as preparations begin for their crucial Matchday 7 and 8 fixtures in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana will travel to N’Djamena to face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on Thursday, September 4, before returning home to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8 in what promises to be a high-stakes West African showdown.

The team is set to hold its first training session today, which will be open to both the media and fans. However, Tuesday’s session (September 2) will be held behind closed doors before the squad departs for Chad later that evening.

Head coach Otto Addo has named a 24-man squad for the qualifiers, with Union Berlin left-back Derrick Arthur Köhn earning his maiden national team call-up.

Meanwhile, some senior players including Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, and Elisha Owusu have already reported to camp in Accra, with the full squad expected to assemble by Tuesday. Coach Otto Addo expects to see all called up players in high spirits ahead of the crucial double-header coming up.

After six qualifying matches, Ghana currently sit atop of Group I with 15 points, three ahead of Comoros and five clear of Madagascar. Victory in the upcoming double-header could push the Black Stars closer to securing a historic fifth World Cup appearance.
