All is set for the final funeral rites of the late former Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, scheduled for today at Jackson’s Park in Koforidua, the capital of the Eastern Region.
The ceremony, which will begin at 12:00 noon in the New Juaben South Municipality, is expected to draw family members, government officials, NDC executives, traditional leaders, and members of the public to honour the late statesman.
Dr. Omane Boamah, who also served as Director of Elections and Information Technology for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), tragically died on August 6, 2025, in a military helicopter crash that claimed all eight lives on board.
The Ghana Air Force Harbin Z-9EH helicopter, tail number GHF 631, also carried other prominent figures, including Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology; Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Sarpong, NDC Vice-Chair; Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
As the nation prepares to bid farewell, tributes continue to pour in for Dr. Omane Boamah, highlighting his dedicated service to Ghana and his enduring contributions to national security and democratic governance.
Today’s ceremony at Jackson’s Park offers a solemn occasion for the country to remember and honour the life of a committed public servant.
