A fire outbreak has completely destroyed the Ajumako Ocheso Police Station in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region.

Eyewitnesses said thick smoke was seen billowing from the building in broad daylight before flames rapidly spread through the structure.

The incident is believed to have occurred shortly after a reported power outage in the area.

Residents rushed to the scene in an attempt to control the fire, but the flames had already engulfed large portions of the police station.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service later arrived to battle the blaze.

The District Fire Commander, Kingsley Yeboah, who holds the rank of DO2, told Adom News that firefighters spent about three hours working to bring the fire under control.

He urged public institutions to ensure that fire extinguishers and other safety equipment are readily available, noting that such tools can help contain fires at their early stages before they escalate.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing, and the exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
