A fatal road accident late Thursday night at Tano Odumasi in the Afigya Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region has claimed the lives of five people, leaving several others critically injured.

The collision occurred around 11 p.m. along the Asante Mampong road when a bus traveling from Yeji to Sogakope reportedly lost control due to speeding and violently crashed into a Hyundai car coming from the opposite direction.

According to eyewitnesses, the Hyundai vehicle was carrying members of a local church who had just closed from an evening service.

Their pastor, who had offered them a lift home after they struggled to get transportation, was among those on board.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene to transport the injured to nearby hospitals, while the bodies of the deceased were conveyed to the morgue for preservation and identification.

Police say a full investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident, as authorities renew calls for caution and discipline on Ghana’s highways, particularly at night.
