Police in the Jasikan District have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the suspected killing of his 59-year-old father at Likpe Abrani in the Oti Region.
The suspect, identified as Innocent Owusu, was picked up following a manhunt launched after the incident, which reportedly occurred at the family residence on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
According to the police, Innocent Owusu fled the community shortly after the alleged killing.
Acting on intelligence gathered with support from residents, officers tracked him to a forest hideout near Abrani, where he was arrested without incident.
The body of the deceased, Peter Owusu, has since been retrieved and deposited at the Hohoe Government Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy, as investigations continue.
Police say the suspect is currently in custody and cooperating with investigators. He is expected to be processed through the appropriate legal channels in the coming days.
The Oti Regional Police Command commended the people of Likpe Abrani for their swift cooperation, noting that community support was instrumental in the timely arrest of the suspect.
The Command also expressed sympathy to the bereaved family, assuring the public of its commitment to ensuring justice in the matter.
