Former Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah is reported to be in a stable condition and gradually recovering after a poisoning incident at a friend’s party in Tarkwa over the weekend.

According to Kwame Dela Fishbone of Wontumi Sports, Amponsah was poisoned while attending the event and was subsequently admitted to a hospital.

He was scheduled to leave Ghana on Wednesday for business purposes but was unable to do so due to his health condition.

The exact location of Amponsah’s treatment has not been disclosed, and no suspects have been identified in connection with the incident.

The circumstances surrounding the poisoning remain unclear as there have been no further updates from his camp.

Nana Yaw Amponsah served as CEO of Asante Kotoko from August 2020 to August 2023, during which he led the club to their 24th Ghana Premier League title in the 2021/22 season.

He also briefly held the same position at Moldovan club FC Petrocub Hincesti from January 2024 to July 2024.

Amponsah's situation is closely monitored by supporters and the football community as he continues his recovery.
