Former Ghana captain and record most capped player of the Black Stars, Andre Rami Morgan Dede Ayew is set to become a free agent as his contract with French Ligue 1 relegation survivors, Le Havre elapses at the end of the season.

Andre Ayew re-joined the French Ligue 1 outfit for a second spell on a short-term deal, helping the club to escape relegation on the final day of the season. He became a pivotal figure in the team, exhibiting top performances in crucial games for the side which submerged the team’s debacle, propelling them into contention for top flight status for next season.

In a game that became the decider for Le Havre where they had the last laugh through a last-gasp penalty converted calmy like a boss by the reliable Abdoulaye Toure to win an amazing tussle against Strasbourg, Andre Ayew lasted 64minutes as his outfit prevailed in a 3-2 victory, earmarking a momentous relegation survival.

With his contract expiring and no contract renewal talks yet, there is the possibility of having the former Swansea City and West Ham United star leaving the Normandy-based club.

Andre Ayew has been able to amass an incredible 4 goals and 1 assist for his side this season, totaling 5 goal involvements.

Ayew will be on the lookout for potential opportunities at other clubs considering the possibility of leaving the club after no concrete plans to extend his stay at the club after this season.

The 35-year-old attacker has had an illustrious career, having stints at a healthy number of clubs across Europe including Olympique Marseille, West Ham United, Swansea City, and Fenerbahce. He recently marked 500 career games in the just ended Ligue 1 campaign.

With his monumental achievement of being the most capped player for Ghana with 120 games, the former Black Stars captain who has also scored 24 goals for the national team has not featured for the side since his involvement in an international friendy against Uganda where he came on as a substitute for his brother, Jordan Ayew back in March 2024.
