Former Ghana youth international Eric Ayiah has completed a move to Portuguese third-tier side CD Trofense after departing from Gil Vicente.
Ayiah has signed a two-year contract with Liga Portuga 3 club CD Trofense, with the aim of securing a spot in the first team for the 2023/24 season.
His time at Gil Vicente, which began last summer, was primarily intended to gain experience with the first team. However, Ayiah did not get the opportunities he had hoped for and decided to terminate his contract with the club.
During the previous season, the 23-year-old showcased his goal-scoring ability by scoring 12 goals and providing three assists in 24 appearances for Gil Vicente U23s in the U23 Taca Revelacao.
Eric Ayiah's contract with Trofense will run until the summer of 2025. Despite his standout performances at the 2017 FIFA World Cup, which led to his signing with AS Monaco, he has faced challenges in his pursuit of top-flight football.
