Ransford Osei, a former Ghana youth star who won the FIFA U20 World Cup with the Black Satellites, has asserted that he was a better striker than the legendary Asamoah Gyan.

While Gyan is widely recognized as one of Ghana's all-time great strikers, Osei believes he was more clinical and could have scored more goals for the national team if given the chance.

Osei stated in an interview with Pipapipa Media, "During my time, there was no one better. Asamoah Gyan was a fantastic player, but he wasn’t as clinical as me.

I could have scored more goals than him, but he had more opportunities than me."

He also mentioned the presence of Gyan as a factor in his limited opportunities at the international level, saying, "Even at Angola, I couldn’t get the chance because Asamoah Gyan was there and he was the most experienced player."

Ransford Osei retired from professional football in 2021, citing recurring injuries that prevented him from reaching his full potential.

Despite his limited appearances for the national teams, he stands by his claim of being a more clinical striker than Gyan during his time.
