Former GhOne TV news anchor, Abena Owusu Nyamekye, has finally been revealed as the latest broadcast journalist to ditch the conglomerate EIB network for Omni Media Limited.

The petite journalist who followed the likes of  Naa Ashorkor and AJ Sarpong, to resign from EIB network is reportedly joining Omni Media Limited where she will be working with the Citi TV and Citi FM family as news anchor.

Abena who started her media career at the now defunct Radio Xtacy in Kumasi as news anchor and reporter in 2008 tendered her resignation letter to the management of EIB network on Monday, January 8, 2o18, citing personal reasons for her decision to quit.

In 2012, Abena Joined Kapital Radio, another urban radio station in Kumasi as news anchor and reporter but later hosted the station’s health programme ‘Your Health.’

She later moved to Solid FM in 2014 (formerly KFM) where she served as the Head of News and shortly assumed the vacant position as the host of the station’s Morning show (The Morning Mix). Due to her versatility, Abena intermittently hosted the station’s mid-morning show and late night shows.

As a journalist, Abena is passionate about is social and health-related issues. Through her social and health programme, she has supported children living with cancer by raising awareness and raising funds to support their treatment.

Abena loves to use her work as a broadcaster to champion the cause of the marginalised in society.

Before joining Citi FM and Citi TV, she had worked with GH One TV and Starr FM where she anchored and produced news progammes.
