Former Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Enoch Teye Mensah, has sadly passed away at the age of 77 while receiving medical treatment in South Africa.

E.T. Mensah, as he was affectionately known, held the distinction of being Ghana's first Minister of Youth and Sports during the Fourth Republic.

He served under the leadership of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings and held this position from 1993 to 2001.

The former Prampram legislator is one of the longest-serving Minister for Sports a position he held with poise and admiration.

In addition to his role in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Honourable E.T. Mensah also served as Minister of Education and Minister of Employment and Social Welfare during his tenure with the National Democratic Party government.

Following his departure from Parliament in 2016, he continued to contribute to Ghanaian governance as a member of the Council of State.

E.T. Mensah played a crucial role in facilitating the Ghana Football Association's acquisition of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, demonstrating his enduring impact on the country's sports landscape.
