Forty National Service Personnel posted to TDC Ghana Ltd for the 2025–2026 service year have successfully completed a two-week Basic Military Orientation Programme at the Ghana Armed Forces’ 1st Infantry Battalion, Michel Camp, near Tema.

The cohort, comprising 22 males and 18 females, underwent the programme from March 9 to March 25, 2026, participating in intensive drills, practical exercises, and skill-building sessions.

Training modules included leadership development, fire safety, first aid, communication skills, responsible citizenship, and physical drills.

Ruth Dela Seddoh, Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), who presided over the passing-out ceremony, emphasised that the programme is designed to cultivate discipline, teamwork, and civic responsibility rather than militarise the youth.

She noted that the initiative aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s 2025/2026 State of the Nation vision of developing responsible and productive citizens.

The programme is set to expand nationwide by July, with the potential to train up to 10,000 National Service Personnel, according to Ms. Seddoh.

Courage Makafui Nunekpeku described the initiative as historic, noting that TDC Ghana Ltd is the first organisation in the country to implement such a structured training programme for national service personnel.

“This is not merely a passing-out ceremony; it is about transformation. Over the past two weeks, you have been shaped through discipline, resilience, and respect for authority,” he said, urging participants to uphold integrity, patriotism, and a strong sense of service in their future duties.

The Managing Director also commended the Ghana Armed Forces, particularly the 1st Infantry Battalion, for their professionalism and commitment in training the cohort.

The programme is intended to serve as a model for future initiatives aimed at equipping young graduates with essential life skills while fostering discipline and national pride.
