The Fosu Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta has officially responded to statements made by Akosua Serwah Fosuh, the estranged wife of the late Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

In a statement issued through their solicitors, the family addressed letters allegedly sent by Akosua Serwah on September 1 and 10, 2025, regarding matters of marriage, inheritance, and funeral arrangements for the late musician.

Estrangement and customary divorce

According to the family, Akosua Serwah abandoned Daddy Lumba nearly 15 years ago during his period of illness and refused to return to Ghana with him for treatment. They described her actions as “desertion in his most difficult time of need.”

The statement further revealed that in February 2018, Akosua Serwah informed Daddy Lumba of her intention to file for divorce, making several claims which he categorically denied. His lawyers at the time responded, urging her to proceed, as the musician had “already moved on with his life.”

The family added that Akosua Serwah later presented customary drinks to signify the dissolution of her marriage, which the Fosu Royal Family accepted, making the separation final under Akan tradition.

“By Akan custom, once the drinks are presented and accepted, the marriage is dissolved,” the family emphasized. “After a person’s passing, the body and funeral arrangements are the sole responsibility of their family — not an estranged spouse.”

Recognition of Odo Broni as wife

The Fosu Royal Family also confirmed that Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, was the woman who stood by Daddy Lumba for over 15 years until his death.

“Odo Broni is a recognized wife of the late Daddy Lumba,” the statement read. “She lived with him, cared for him through his illness, and bore six children with him. The family acknowledges and respects her role in his life.”

Funeral and estate matters

The family made it clear that all funeral decisions rest with them and not with Akosua Serwah. However, they noted that if her name appears in any official brochure, it would be “a gesture of goodwill” because of the children she shares with the late musician.

On the issue of Daddy Lumba’s estate, the family clarified that all his properties and assets would be distributed fairly among his children and their mothers following legal procedures. They cautioned that no individual should attempt to claim ownership before the estate settlement is finalized.

The solicitors, who served as Daddy Lumba’s final legal representatives, also confirmed holding written instructions from the late musician detailing how his funeral and estate matters should be managed.

Call for peace and respect

The statement concluded with a call for calm and cooperation, urging all parties to avoid disputes that could tarnish the late musician’s legacy.

“To avoid unnecessary litigation that may bring shame to the memory of the deceased, the family remains open to peaceful discussions with all concerned,” it said.

The Fosu Royal Family reaffirmed its commitment to giving the highlife legend a dignified and honorable farewell befitting his stature in Ghanaian music.
