Four Ghana Premier League (GPL) clubs—Hearts of Oak, Accra Lions, Dreams FC, and Legon Cities—are set to use the University of Ghana Stadium as their temporary home ground following the closure of the Accra Sports Stadium for maintenance.
Legon Cities, who already use the facility as their primary venue, will now share the stadium with Hearts of Oak, Accra Lions, and Dreams FC, who have been forced to relocate due to the maintenance works at their usual home ground.
This weekend, Hearts of Oak will face Bechem United at the University of Ghana Stadium, while Dreams FC will take on Kpando Heart of Lions. Accra Lions will also play their upcoming match at the same venue.
The University of Ghana Stadium, which recently underwent renovations for the Accra African Games, has a seating capacity of 10,000.
The government invested $34 million in upgrading the facility to meet international standards, making it a suitable alternative for the displaced GPL teams.
