The Eastern Regional Chapter of Friends of Bawumia for 2024 (FOB) has refuted claims that they embarrassed New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential hopeful, Alan Kyerematen, when he was in Koforidua last weekend to attend the funeral of the father of NPP stalwart, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko.

The group, dressed in branded T-shirts and holding huge banners maneuvered into the funeral grounds to mob the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in an 'unacceptable' manner when the Trade and Industry Minister was also present.

The group led by its Regional Coordinator, George Opoku Acheampong was heard shouting in unison “wo y3y3 ya Bawumia b3ba”. To wit, “come what may Bawumia will lead NPP in 2024”.

However, it has been rumoured that the supporters of Dr. Bawumia ended up hooting at Mr. Kyerematen, a behaviour that has been described by the Alan supporters as "unnecessary", given that the venue was a funeral grounds.

But in response, George Opoku Acheampong said he only organized the group to welcome Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and that they did not in anyway harass or hoot at Alan Kyerematen.

He, therefore, called on the public to rubbish the claims as according to it is a grand scheme by some aliens to cause problems between the ruling New Patriotic Party members and the two prominent personalities.

Friends of Bawumia for 2024 (FOB) was inaugurated in January 2021 in Koforidua by some NPP constituency executives declaring their support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the Party in 2024.
