Former Ghana international Frimpong Manso has expressed serious concerns over the Black Stars' faltering campaign in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The once-dominant Ghanaian side, which has won the tournament four times, is now at risk of missing out on AFCON for the first time since 2004 after a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Sudan.

The loss, which took place at the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Libya on Tuesday, has left Ghana's chances of qualification hanging by a thread.

Manso, reflecting on the team's struggles, emphasized how their inability to secure victories in key matches has dented their confidence and hopes of qualifying.

"Struggling to beat any of the teams in our group piled pressure on us. The confidence of the team got missing after failing to even beat Niger on a neutral ground," Manso remarked.

"Statistically, it will be difficult for us to qualify, and it won’t be much of a surprise if we don’t make it."

To keep their qualification hopes alive, Ghana must win their final two matches against already-qualified Angola and bottom-placed Niger, while relying on Sudan to drop points in their remaining games.

The Black Stars will return to action in November, where these decisive fixtures will determine their fate for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
