THE maiden edition of Afrobeats musician, Fuse ODG’s TINA Festival, can best be described as a success especially in the way it promoted African culture.

For the three days that the festival ran; from Wednesday, January 2 to Friday, January 4, it was all about pushing the African identity and the development of the continent, an agenda that Fuse ODG has been promoting with his This Is New Africa (TINA) campaign.

TINA Festival began with a donation to the school Fuse ODG helped set up in Akosombo in the Eastern Region on Wednesday.

On Thursday, there was a Global Diaspora Conference and Exhibition at the Accra International Conference Centre with discussions centred on how to take Africa beyond aid.

Speakers for the conference included BBC TV broadcaster, Reggie Yates; actress, Ama K Abebrese; fitness coach, Chaka Bars; entrepreneur, Sangu Delle; broadcaster, Bola Ray and Fuse ODG.

On Friday, the Tina Festival was climaxed with a musical concert dubbed the "Kente Party"at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre in La, Accra and it was quite the lit show.

There were performances by Sarkodie, Stefflon Don, D Banj, Kojo Cue, Lil Shaker, Kojo Talr, Skepta, Pappy Kojo, Medikal, Eugy Official, Kwamz & Flava and Fuse ODG himself among others.

Before the night’s show, there was a bazaar during the day at the Trade Fair and it was a display of everything African with clothes, accessories, local foods and drinks being sold by vendors.

African fabrics seemed to be the dress code for the "Kente Party" as most of the performers and patrons wore something with a touch of Africa.

The concert took off around 10pm with up and coming artistes preparing the grounds for the musical giants.

Fuse ODG’s brother, Kojo Talr, thrilled the audience with his single Ohemaa while Eugy Official and Medikal treated them to their hit songs.

Joey B and Pappy Kojo were amazing on the stage and proved that they still have what it takes to stay in the game.

Stefflon Don and Sarkodie also showed that they’re the dons with performances that paved the way for Fuse ODG to come and do his thing.

He mounted the stage in his colourful African print attire a and showed his prowess as a live performer.  He performed Bra Fie ft Damian Marley, Island, and his latest single, New African Girl featuring Lynx Entertainment signees Kuami Eugene and KiDi.

The hundreds of people gathered at the venue sang and danced to the Antenna hitmaker’s songs; they clearly had a good time.

The host of the show, comedian, Eddie Kadi, did excellent on the job as he danced, sang and told jokes which the audience laughed hard to.

Nigerian artiste, D’banj, received loud cheers and applause when he showed up on stage to support Fuse ODG. He performed songs like Oliver Twist and Mr Endowed.

The TINA Festival ended on a high note and hopes are that it will be an annual event that will put Ghana on the global stage.
