Hiplife artiste, Gasmilla, is using his celebrity status for some good as he holds an inter-school dance competition dubbed “Joo Ni Ma Jo” on June 30 at  the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park.

The purpose of the competition, which is targeting students from Primary One to Junior High School (JHS) Three, is to empower the youth through dance, educate and also entertain them.

Gasmilla said he was motivated to put the competition together after he dropped his recent song, Ake3somorshi.

“I never knew how dancers had influenced my life until I dropped Ak3somorshi. I had people sending me videos from all over the world dancing to the song and I decided to give back to the society by starting something with the youth hence this competition,” he said.

According to the Telemo hitmaker, he is expecting more than 50 schools to be present on the day adding that he will be giving GH¢1,000 to the winning school. Apart from the cash prize, there will be a series of excursions for the winner.

In order to make the competition fair, Gasmilla said the judges will be students selected  from the various schools who will make it at the event.

He told Graphic Showbiz that he intends making the Joo Ni Ma Jo competition an annual event.

“I have big dream for this event and I know it is going to attract different schools across the country. Next year, it will be outside Accra and I know the students are going to enjoy it,” he said.

He disclosed that apart from the dancing and fun, he will also advice the children on staying in school if they want to excel.

“I always place education first before any other thing and I will use the opportunity to tell the students to take their academic work very seriously,” he said

Apart from Gasmilla who will be on stage to entertain the students acts like Wisa, Magnom, Bismark The Joke, Apaatse and Ennwai will also be there to support.
