The acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Margaret Ansei, has terminated the appointments of all 218 district coordinators nationwide, bringing an abrupt end to their service.
Three internal memos issued by the acting CEO between August and December 2025. The first memo, dated August 27, reminded coordinators that their contracts were renewed annually and that their performance was under review.
A second memo, issued on October 27, informed the officers that their contracts under the BIZBOX project had ended on August 31, 2025, adding that a decision on renewal was still under consideration.
However, a third memo dated December 3, 2025, directed regional managers of Business Advisory Centers and Business Resource Centers to ensure that “all outgone district coordinators cease coming to work with immediate effect.” It also instructed managers to support newly recruited coordinators as they assume their roles.
Despite this, several coordinators, some employed as far back as 2023 say they have not received any formal termination letters.
One coordinator, said the memos gave no indication that their appointments had been terminated, calling the development a surprise.
“Unknown to us other candidates have been interviewed, offered appointments to replace us as if we are not Ghanaians who deserve to be employed too. Sadly, some of us are going back to the pool of unemployed graduates."
“I stayed home after graduating in 2016 until 2023 and now that I have a job the government has decided to terminate my appointment without any justification.”
Another coordinator lamented the impact of the decision: “I stayed home after graduating in 2016 until 2023, and now that I have a job, the government has decided to terminate my appointment without justification.”
The affected officers also claim they have not been paid their November salaries despite continuing to report to work.
“As I speak with you, our November salaries are in arrears. We do not know when we are going to be paid. We were reporting because we had received no instruction to cease working.”
