Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has raised concerns over the handling of the Black Stars' captaincy during the recent qualifiers against Sudan.

With Thomas Partey sidelined, head coach Otto Addo appointed Mohammed Kudus as the interim captain, overlooking Jordan Ayew, who is usually next in line for the role.

Afriyie, who once chaired the Black Stars Management Committee, expressed his discontent with how the situation was managed, stating, "There are questions to be answered in these two games.

Some players could not show up for these games, and Mohammed Kudus was named as the captain of the team."

He emphasized that the coaching staff, led by Otto Addo, should have better navigated this decision.

"I believe the coaches should have managed the situation well, but they didn't. I think the call-up made for these games was not properly planned," he added.

The Black Stars faced a disappointing defeat against Sudan, with goals from Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud and Mohammed Abdelrahman leading the Sudanese team to victory.

As a result, Ghana remains with only two points in Group F, while Sudan sits comfortably in their qualification bid with seven points.

Currently, the Black Stars occupy third place in Group F with two points after four matches.

They will regroup next month for crucial matches against Niger and Angola as they strive to improve their standing in the AFCON qualifiers.
