German-born of Ghanaian descent, Ben Opoku has joined German top-flight club Hoffenheim. The 21-year-old striker makes a leaping move from 4th tier side SC Weiche 08 where he netted ten (10) goals and provided four(4) assists last season.
Opoku is still eligible to represent Ghana at national team level despite being with the German youth team, scoring once in four appearances for the Germany U18.
This move in his career has earned him a chance of a major step in his young career, giving him the opportunity to prove his potential in the biggest platform in Germany football, the Bundesliga. His stupendous performances didn’t go unnoticed, with Hoffenheim viewing him as a player with strong potential and room to develop and improve in his game.
Opoku, who is still having his international future wide open, and a possible breakthrough in the Bundesliga in the upcoming season could spark interest from the Black Stars technical team who are committed to widening their reach to identifying more talented and well performing Ghanaian players who merit a chance to compete for the Black Stars around the world.
At the moment, TSG Hoffenheim are expected to ease him in as he is going to be deployed in the second team to help his development until a possible promotion into the first team comes as they keep monitoring his progress.
Opoku on the other hand, always brimming with great enthusiasm and exuberance, will ultimately dwell on his impeccable eye for goal and natural movement to earn the belief of new employers of getting him into the first team. He is committed to making a case for first-team action sooner rather than later.
