Scottish Cup champions Aberdeen FC have announced the signing of German-born Ghanaian left-back Emmanuel Gyamfi from Bundesliga 2 side FC Schalke 04.
The 20-year-old joins the Dons on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
Gyamfi, a product of Schalke’s renowned academy, is widely regarded as one of their standout prospects.
After signing his first professional deal with the German club in 2024, he spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Dutch side VVV-Venlo, gaining valuable senior experience in the Eerste Divisie.
Expressing his excitement, Gyamfi said, “I’m really happy to be here and so are my family, so I am ready to go. Now that everything is sorted, I can focus on pre-season, and I am going to work hard before training starts. I want to show the fans what I can do as this is a good club, and we all want to achieve even more than last season.”
He added, “It was nice to see all the fan celebrations after winning the cup. It motivates me to want to do it again. Obviously, it’s a dream to play in Europe, on that stage.
t can be challenging but we are going to be ready as a team after a strong pre-season.”
Known for his pace, attacking instincts, and technical skill, Gyamfi is expected to add dynamism and depth to Aberdeen’s defensive options as the club prepares for the new Scottish Premiership campaign and European competition.
